Henkel Ramps Up Its Efforts in Advanced Adhesive Solutions And Thermal Management Materials

Henkel, a global leader in advanced chemical materials, recently announced the opening of its cutting-edge application engineering center in Chennai, India's electronics manufacturing hub. The center houses five specialized laboratories focused on advanced adhesive solutions and thermal management materials to enhance the reliability, durability, and slim design of consumer electronics products such as smartphones and wearable devices. Equipped with state-of-the-art dispensing systems, waterproof vacuum impregnation technology, and high-precision material analysis tools, the center enables material preparation, proof-of-concept testing, and product certification. This center will complement Henkel's global innovation network, creating synergies with existing sites in Germany, the United States, China, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. Furthermore, the company will construct a new adhesive materials manufacturing plant dedicated to the electronics industry at its multi-technology production base in Kulkhumbu, near Pune. The new plant will enhance Henkel's capabilities in high-performance adhesives and coating solutions, benefiting from the Industry 4.0 smart factory system deployed at the Kulkhumbu production base, improving operational efficiency and product quality while minimizing downtime. In its adhesives business, Henkel's sales reached €5.475 billion in the first half of 2024, representing a 2.0% year-on-year increase. In the third quarter of 2024, the Adhesives Technologies business segment generated sales of €2.8 billion, representing a 3.3% year-over-year increase. Henkel expects sales growth for the Adhesives business to be between 2.0% and 4.0% for fiscal year 2024. Henkel entered the Indian market in 1996 and currently has five manufacturing sites in India, meeting the growing demand from Indian industry for high-performance solutions in adhesives, sealants, and surface treatment products.
